The past few years, we’ve seen the rise of niche sportswear brands, in particular in the running discipline. I’m talking about brands like:
District Vision, who I’ve detailed before…

and Satisfy, who’ve really nailed it on the user experience for distance runners, specifically…

The popularity of women’s soccer, especially at the high school and college level is just absolutely enormous and the fact that there’s not more lifestyle brands around this is actually almost shocking. There’s only a few plays being made at all, besides the major brands.
Market Gaps Where You’ll Find Brand Opportunities
There’s a huge opportunity for brands like Outdoor Voices…

or Carbon 38 to diversify their offerings…

Opportunity 1: Aim a Little Lower (in Age)
… with some new lines and styles that are geared towards youth soccer, or even the high school and young adult soccer niche. Don’t get me wrong… their current ranges are fantastic, but just not right for younger generations on the whole.
There’s just not many of these brands ready to outfit a youth soccer team!
Opportunity 2: Game, Set, Match
I would do something just like Recess, a well-known pickleball brand, has done and introduce sets. These could include all the actual hardware needed to play the sport, and can be customized to include uniforms, too.

Opportunity 3: Dress for Success
You need to be making specific clothing that’s really helpful for the female soccer player and trainer. This is where that massive opportunity I spoke of before lies, just waiting for you to start working on today!
