It is becoming increasingly difficult to start a business without an existing audience. I’ve put together this quick guide on how to build an audience when starting a brand, which can also be used to promote your existing brand or creative works.

If you want to start a business in the consumer packaged goods (CPG) or lifestyle product industry, you need an existing audience. If you are not already a creator, there are two options to consider.

Let’s take a quick look…

Firstly, you can take the time to become a creator yourself. This may involve curating content and pushing it out in your niche for six months to a year.

There are hundreds of tutorials and accounts available to teach you how to do this. Once you have an audience, you can then launch your product.

Alternatively, you can purchase an existing audience by looking at niche content websites and social media accounts that are for sale. This approach allows you to bypass the need to become a creator, but you will need to learn how to manage and execute on those accounts once you have purchased them.

To find such accounts, you can search on platforms like Vive’s Cell or Flip a Micro Acquirer and monitor the landscape to see if there are any properties for sale in your chosen niche.

In any case, having an audience in place before you launch your business is crucial for peace of mind and to ensure that you have the infrastructure to start your brand from the right place.
