I’m just one of the owners of a 30-person product development agency. Together, we advise startups, creators, and private equity on how to build brands and develop product roadmaps in the modern era.

5 Steps to Start an Acrylic Interior Design Brand

The first thing I tell creators who want to launch products is to continue creating content in their niche. Keep on with it throughout the product development process to get your audience as big as you can.

Step 1: Expand Your Influence

If you’re only on one social media network, start to go to two. If you’re just on TikTok, for instance, you could be expanding your influence on other networks, too.

Take your content to a blog, create new posts on Twitter, and add Reels to your Instagram account. In other words, get audiences in more than one place.

Step 2: Own Your Audience

Next, if you have an audience from putting content out there on the Internet, you should try to get them to be owned, which means having subscriber contact details via email or SMS for your biggest fans.

The easiest way to do that is with free downloads like guides, cheat sheets, or a free niche-specific learning course. When you want to launch a product, it’s actually way easier to do it to that email list or SMS list than it is to start switching your content to things that are focused on selling.

Step 3: Gather Your Samples

To start an acrylic interior design brand, you’re going to need samples – lots of them.

Source your manufacturers, build a relationship with them, and get as many samples as you can early in the process. This steps take anywhere from 6 months to a year, especially if you’re new to this niche. Finding a product you believe in is not an overnight process, believe me.

Looking for the perfect product? Try an interesting version of an installed acrylic product like these rails on shelves or walls – available on Pietra.

And this acrylic case product is really fun, too – available on Alibaba.

Step 4: Consider the User Experience

Making this successful isn’t as much about the look and feel of these acrylic boxes as it is about the user experience overall. So first, I would think really carefully about what a customer wants to feature inside the box and do measurements for sizing accordingly.

Here’s a 100-piece minimum order quantity (MOQ) and the price gets down pretty significantly when you get to 1,000 pieces, so I’d look at getting several different colors that can be paired together.

Looking at the fine print from the factory for these – Shenzhen Fujiali Industrial Co., Ltd. – note that products can be silk-screened or engraved. So what’s an interesting and compelling way to do that?

Creating a couple of good-looking colors with interesting engraved designs on these is probably the easy part. Actually, getting people to hang them on their walls effectively is significantly harder.

It’s also worth noting that if you purchase samples, you can apply that against an order credit. You should really be trying to hit that thousand units, get all your sampling costs refunded, and pay attention to the timing… 3-7 working days for a sample and 10-20 working days for a production or bulk order, which is pretty solid.

Step 5: Manage the Details

Just little details, like the actual aesthetics and chosen colors of the products, as well as how they work together is information your customers want to know.

Plus, the ability for people to be able to place or hang them properly – and make it look good – without needing to hire somebody to come in and do it for them would really help set a brand apart from competitors in this niche.
